About the College of Engineering
Engineering is the profession in which knowledge of the Mathematical and natural sciences gained by study, experience, and practice is applied with judgment to develop ways to utilize economically the materials and forces of nature for the benefit of mankind.
The College of Engineering comprises two programs: Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE) and Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME). Aside from the general education and professional courses, the Civil Engineering program has technical electives in Earthquake Engineering, Irrigation, Flood Control and Drainage Engineering, Construction Cost Engineering and Geosynthetics in Geotechnical Engineering; While the Mechanical Engineering has technical electives in Industrial Automation and Control, Automotive Engineering, Solar Energy and Wind Energy Utilization and Alternative Energy Resources.

Capitol University College of Engineering
Programs offered
BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN CIVIL ENGINEERING
Civil Engineering is a profession that applies the basic principles of Science in conjunction with mathematical and computational tools to solve problems associated with developing and sustaining civilized life in our planet. It is one of the broadest engineering disciplines both in terms of the range of problems that fall within its preview and in the range of knowledge required to solve those problems. Civil Engineering works are generally one-of-a-kind projects; they are often grand in scale; and they usually require cooperation among professionals of many different disciplines. The completion of a civil engineering project involves the solution of technical problems in which information from numerous sources and myriad non-technical factors play a significant role. Some of the most common examples of civil engineering works include bridges, buildings, dams, airports, ports and harbors, highways, tunnels, towers and water distribution systems. Civil Engineers are concerned with flood controls, landslide, air and water pollution, and the design of facilities to withstand earthquakes and other natural hazards.
The Civil Engineering program of Capitol University has been redesigned into a 4-year course with four core specializations: Structural Engineering; Transportation Engineering; Geotechnical Engineering; and Construction Engineering and Management.
The Civil Engineering program provides quality education that responds to the challenge of producing globally recognized graduates; empowered with the knowledge and skills in serving others through a vigorous community extension program with focus on climate adaptation and disaster resilience activities.
BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN MECHANICAL ENGINEERING
Mechanical Engineering is a profession that concerns itself with mechanical design, energy conversion, fuel and combustion technologies, heat transfer, materials, noise control and acoustics, manufacturing processes, rail transportation, automatic control, product safety and reliability, solar energy, and technological impacts to society. Mechanical engineers study the behavior of materials when forces are applied to them, such as the motion of solids, liquids, gases, and heating and cooling of object and machines. Using these basic building blocks, engineers design space vehicles, computers, power plants, intelligence machines and robots, automobiles, trains, airplanes, furnaces, and air conditioners. Mechanical engineers work on jet engine design, submarines, hot air balloons, textiles and new materials, medical and hospital equipment, and refrigerators and other home appliances. Anything that is mechanical or must interact with another machine or human being is within the broad scope of today’s and tomorrow’s mechanical engineer.
The mechanical engineering program of Capitol University has been redesigned into a 4-year course which practically embraces skills in operations, maintenance, production, education, entrepreneurship, sales and marketing, research and development. The program prepares the students to work effectively in other related fields such as electrical engineering, manufacturing engineering, aeronautical/aerospace engineering, environmental engineering, biomedical engineering and mechatronics and robotics engineering.
