On March 23, 2024, Capitol University proudly hosted the Fulbright Roadshow,
an event that drew a full house with enthusiastic participation from deans and
college representatives. The roadshow, organized by the Fulbright Commission
in the Philippines, aimed to promote and disseminate information about the
prestigious Fulbright Program and its numerous opportunities for scholars and
educators.
The Seminar Room of Capitol University was filled with excitement as attendees
gathered to learn more about the Fulbright Program. The event was marked by
informative sessions, engaging presentations, and interactive discussions.
Mr. Redentor de Silva, Finance Officer of PAEF , the Fulbright Commission in the
Philippines, provided an overview of the Fulbright Program, its history, and its
impact on global education. Ms Lovely Serrano, Program Officer of PAEF ,gave
the program overview of Fulbright. Dr. Amor De Torres, Capitol University’s
Vice President for Academic Affairs, emphasized the university’s commitment
to international collaboration and the importance of such opportunities for
faculty and students. Dr. Ana Juarez Macatangay and Dr. Mercelita Jandayan-
Labial, director and coordinator, respectively of the Office for
Internationalization and Linkages, spearheaded the event in collaboration with
Fulbright Commission of the Philippines.
The Fulbright Program, established in 1946, is the flagship international
educational exchange program sponsored by the U.S. government. Designed to
increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and
other countries, the program offers scholarships for students, scholars, and
professionals to undertake graduate study, advanced research, university
teaching, and primary and secondary school teaching worldwide.The Philippine-
American Educational Foundation (PAEF), also known as the Fulbright
Commission in the Philippines, administers the Fulbright Program in the
Philippines. Since its inception in 1948, PAEF has been instrumental in fostering
educational and cultural exchanges between the Philippines and the United
States.
The Fulbright Roadshow at Capitol University highlighted the extensive support
available for those interested in pursuing Fulbright opportunities. Attendees
gained valuable insights into application processes, selection criteria, and the
